The Home Defenders League is a national movement of underwater homeowners and allies fighting Wall Street to get back what Wall Street stole from them and for a stronger economy for all of us.
Years after Wall Street banks gutted the economy, they are still paying the price for their greed and recklessness. As underwater homeowners and foreclosure victims they are the ones wrestling with service’s that file fraudulent paperwork and don’t return phone calls. There are millions of home owners facing wrongful foreclosures and 15.7 million of them are underwater — meaning banks are charging more for mortgages than homes are worth.
They’ve experienced three years of broken promises from big banks and failed assistance efforts from the Federal government. They have had enough of the talk and half-measures and are calling for bold action. After working in isolation, they are joining together to demand that there politicians and candidates seeking office make banks pay us back for the damage they have done to there families and there communities through policies that will boost the overall economy.
Here’s what they stand for:
Resetting of mortgages (principal reduction) to current market value
Families have the right to stay in homes, paying rent, post foreclosure
Families, post foreclosure, have the right of “first refusal” to buy back their home at real current value
A moratorium on foreclosures until due process and fairness can be ensured
